Dr. Gene Witiak
Gene Witak, VMD, is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. He founded Lehigh Valley Animal Hospital in 1969 and sold it to its present owners in 1997. He continues to practice at the LVAH Bath Pike office.
Dr. Witiak was a member of the State Board of Veterinary Medicine for 9 years and Chairman for 2 years. He was also a founding partner of the Valley Central Emergency Center.
He is the author of two books: True Confessions of a Veterinarian: An Unconditional Love Story (Glenbridge Publishing Ltd, 212 pp; cloth) and The Hug: A Veterinarian’s Secret Potion (self-published, 211 pp, paper). Both books focus on the bond that forms between veterinarian and owner because of their shared love of animals. These stories, drawn from Dr. Witiak’s four decades of experience, are both funny and heartwarming. His books are available at both LVAH offices, directly from Dr. Witiak, and at Moravian Book Store. Dr. Witiak has also published 4 scientific articles in national veterinary journals.
He currently volunteers for the New Bethany Meals Center, spends time with his four granddaughters, and plays as much golf as time allows.
