Dr. Kimberly Mickley
Dr. Kimberly Mickley grew up in Alburtis, PA and graduated from Emmaus High School. She received an Associates of Science Degree in Veterinary Technicology from Central Carolina Community College in North Carolina. After graduation, she married her husband, Keith, who is in the United States Navy. For several years, she worked as a licensed veterinary technician and during this time she realized she wanted to continue her education and become a veterinarian. She received her degree from Iowa State University, College of Veterinary Medicine in Ames, Iowa. After she graduated from veterinary college, she accepted a small animal medicine-surgery internship at Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston, MA where she also continued to pursue her passion for exotic animals. After the internship, she applied and was accepted into the avian-exotic residency program at Angell. During this 2-year rigorous experience, she worked strictly with exotic animals and gained valuable experience regarding treatment and medical management of disease processes as well as surgical experience. This experience helped prepare her for a comprehensive, in-depth examination for avian species, which she recently passed. Dr. Mickley is now a board certified avian veterinarian (ABVP-Avian)!
In her spare time, she and her husband enjoy spending time together outdoors. Dr. Mickley has several critters of her own including a cockatiel, Lesser-Sulfer Crested Cockatoo, parakeet, a Jack Russell Terrier, 2 cats, a tree frog, and last but not least, tropical fish! Needless to say, she has a zoo of her own and realizes how important it is to have veterinarians and technical staff who are able and willing to give excellent care for avian and exotic animals as well as our dog and cat friends.
Dr. Mickley is dedicated to her patients and continues to learn from each patient and client she sees. She strives for the best care possible for these little critters that mean so much to us. After all, they are our friends, our companions.
